11th ASEAN - ROK Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) Meeting

The 11^th Meeting of the ASEAN-ROK Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) takes place at the ASEAN Headquarters in Jakarta to review progress of ASEAN-ROK cooperation and discuss future collaboration in light of the 35^th Anniversary of ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations this year.

“The fast increase of volume of the AKCF calls for more attention on the quality management of the fund.” stated H.E. Jangkeun LEE ROK Ambassador to ASEAN at the 11th Meeting of the ASEAN-ROK Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC), on March 21. For the first time in the annual meeting of Permanent Representatives from 10 AMS (+ Timor Leste) and ROK, AKCF was discussed as an independent agenda item.

“The [ JCC Working Group] Meeting reiterated the view that the AKCF, with its diversified and high-caliber projects, plays an increasingly important role in fostering ASEAN-ROK relations, and is also a key mechanism in the ROK‘s proposal to establish the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN.” Mr. Hoang Trang Hai, DCM of Viet Nam to ASEAN & Co-Chair of the 11th ASEAN-ROK JCC WG meeting reported to the ambassadors at the JCC meeting. “The [JCC WG] Meeting commended that AKPMT for their hard work in reviewing 49 project proposals since March 2023, in providing the valuable consultation and guidance for the potential project proponents, and in maintaining a high standard to guarantee that only quality proposals will be approved and receive funding from the AKCF,” he added in his reporting of the summary of WG meeting to the 11th ASEAN-ROK JCC Meeting.
