Project Description

In 2024, we proudly celebrate 35 years of robust dialogue relations between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Republic of Korea (ROK). Since the inception of this partnership in 1989, both ASEAN and the ROK have made significant strides in fostering mutual growth and security. In line with this collaborative spirit, we are excited to announce the "ASEAN-ROK Training Course on Crime Scene Investigation Training Course: Building Capacities for Regional Investigators through Best Practices and Experience Sharing." This five-day intensive training program is specifically designed to bolster the skills and knowledge of ASEAN law enforcement officers in crime scene investigation (CSI). Proper CSI practices are crucial in identifying and prosecuting criminals, as they provide the scientific foundation necessary for effective law enforcement and judicial processes.

Law enforcement officers from ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste will have the unique opportunity to learn from leading experts from the Korea National Police Agency (KNPA), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and INTERPOL. The course will cover essential aspects of CSI, including its significance in crime detection and prosecution, current challenges faced by ASEAN Member States (AMS), and world-class CSI techniques. Notably, the course will culminate in the development of a comprehensive guideline to enhance regional CSI capacities.

This training aligns with the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, aiming to create a safe, harmonious, and secure environment for the people of ASEAN through enhanced law enforcement capabilities. It supports key actions outlined in the APSC Blueprint 2025 and the ASEAN-ROK Plan of Action to Implement Joint Vision Statement for Peace, Security, and Partnership (2021-2025).

Join us in this landmark initiative as we continue to strengthen the ASEAN-ROK partnership and contribute to a safer, more secure ASEAN community.
