Seoul, 31 October 2024 - The 3rd ASEAN-ROK Children’s Reading Culture Development Committee (AKRCC) General Meeting of the project titled, “ASEAN Children’s Reading Culture Development Project,” was convened by the National Library for Children & Young Adults (NLCY) of the Republic of Korea from 28 - 30 October 2024 in Seoul, Korea.

The three days meeting shared and evaluated the achievements of the project implementation in the previous year. The Meeting also included the presentation of the final implementation reports by each member states on the reading culture activities, professional lectures and practices on reading. Further, the participants were also given the opportunities to exchange their views on the project implementation. Following the discussion, a project assessment was also presented by the ASEAN Secretariat during the Meeting.

On the last day, the participants had the opportunity to visit several libraries around Seoul to witness and experience the operations of libraries in Korea before their returns to their respective countries.

Since 2022, the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF) has been supporting the project. This project is implemented with the goal to promote the children’s reading culture around the ASEAN region and Korea. As part of the project’s deliverable, the proponent, NLCY, recently produced a promotional video to raise awareness of children’s reading culture.
